There is a Light at the End of the Tunnel

There have been many times since my accident when people have asked me how have I kept going. They also say that if they had been in my position that they probably would have given up and committed suicide shortly after. The only answer I can really give is that my faith in God kept me looking forward to something better. Also just knowing that I wasn’t alone in this situation even if I felt like no one understood me. Believe me there have been many times where I thought I wasn’t going to make it, but just the reminder that Jesus had spared my life to begin with kept me going. You have to understand that our God has given us a beautiful life to live even if we feel it is terrible, and I believe we do not have the right to end it before we have served His purpose for our life.

Being those are my beliefs I understand that many of you have very different beliefs and I respect whatever you chose to believe. But when you are going through a very hard time and feel like there isn’t a reason to continue, try thinking about the people that care about you, the places you would love to visit, and what your God will say to you when you see Him afterwards. What kept me going was finding a church that supported me, talking with people who cared about me, and even engaging in activities that would just cheer me up.

Try to remember that whatever you are going through today will not last and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You can make it through and things will get better. You just have to keep fighting and striving to make your life better any way you can. If that means just going to a movie to cheer you up for the day then wonderful, or in my case it was to go back to college so I could better my situation. Whatever you are going through find a way to make it better, and if you can’t see a way then talk to someone who can point you in a direction to make your situation better. The key here is that no matter what comes against you, lean on the strength of Jesus, keep fighting, and He will get you through whatever storm you are currently in.

If you are currently facing questions or thinking of committing suicide, I beg of you to please talk to your pastor, friends, counselor, or call a help hotline. Remember that even if you feel like no one cares, supports, or loves you that Jesus does very much. He loved all of us so much that He even died for us so that we would have a way to enter into Heaven. John 3:16 is the most popular verse in the Bible and it is because it describes in one sentences what Jesus did for all of us. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Remember you are never alone.
