Achievement

Everyone in their lifetime wants to feel like they have achieved something special. That even goes for those of us that are handicapped. Even though we are forded to get around life in a chair, I know that, for myself, I still dream of becoming a motivational speaker, traveling around the country inspiring others to life to the fullest, and finding someone to love and spend the rest of my life with. Unfortunately there are many obstacles that may try to prevent you from achieving your goals.

I have faced many obstacles in the past 12 years that tried to keep me from becoming a better person and reaching the goals I had set for myself. One of these goals is to live on my own in my own house. Every time I start to make steps to achieve this goal something has always seemed to attack my health and postpone those plans. The key in these situations is to not give up on those dreams. Just because you cannot achieve those dreams now, you may be able to achieve them at a later date. Also when obstacles block you from your goals, this could be God’s way of telling you that you still have learning to do before He grants your dreams. For myself, I have had to learn patience, courtesy, and understanding. So do not get discouraged just because you aren’t reaching your goals right now. God has a plan for your life and may have a blessing waiting for you.

The second goal/dream I have for my life is to find someone to love and spend the rest of my life with. This seems to be the most difficult goal of all, as most people I come in contact with cannot look past the wheelchair and see me as a person. I know that it is human nature to automatically judge a person by the way they look, but when you do that you might  just be missing out on the most interesting person in the world. Even though I have low chances of succeeding in this dream, I never give up hope that God will direct me to the right person one day. The only thing I can do is to love myself, and love the people I come in contact with. So if you are having relationship problems remember a saying that RuPaul says, “If you can’t love yourself, then how are you gonna love someone else?”

Well I hope all of my readers have enjoyed my post this week, and I wish you all the best and success.

    • Thank you for the comment. I am definitely not desperate, but just lonely sometimes. Its hard to get people to look pat my wheelchair and see the person sitting in it. But I have faith that one day God will bring me to the person I’m supposed to be with.
